Looking at photos and film taken inside and outside of the Texas School Depository can be sometimes confusing. I hope this blog will help with this.
1. SOUTH SIDE
2. SOUTH-EAST SIDE: Where shots came from
Below, Deputy Chief George Lumpkin escorts Captain Fritz into the Depository.
Lumpkin in the Alyea film.
Mary Moorman at the sniper’s nest window.
3. EAST SIDE
4. WEST SIDE
Oswald’s co-worker Bonnie Ray Williams seems to have been confused during his Warren Commission testimony. He stated that one of his colleagues opened a window on the South side. As seen in this Moorman photo, bottom-left, taken a few minutes before the shooting, the window he marked with a “W” on CD487 was already open – Window 5S1.
Williams most probably meant the window on the South-West corner labeled as 5W1 which seems to be closed in this McIntire photos taken within seconds of the shooting, and open in the L’Hoste film about 15 minutes after the shooting.
6. NORTH-WEST SIDE: Where the Carcanno was found.
Spot where the Carcanno rifle was found. The red squares highlights the same window.
The red in the first photo on the left on the bottom row shows where Deputy Sheriff Eugene Boone and Constable Seymour Weitzman testified where they found the rifle. And it totally matches the spot pointed to by Detective Lt. Carl Day and Officer J.M. Valentine about 2 hours after the shooting.
Orientation of different images taken by Alyea.
Investigators around the elevators. In the first image, we see Deputy Constable Ben Cash, and FBI agents J. Calvin Rice and Alfred Nelly. The elevator on the image on the right seems to be much bigger than the one on the left, but it’s just an illusion.
The remaining images are to show you where the search and finding of the rifle took place.
Investigators are on the way to the South-West corner where the Carcanno was found. On the right of the photo on the right, Seymour Weitzman can be seen.
SS agent Howlett re-enacts Oswald’s hiding the rifle between boxes before taking the stairs down.

Most of the images probably show the area close to the North-West corner. Top-row photos: Probably Deputy Sheriffs Roger Craig in the photo and Bill Wiseman in the 2nd and 3rd photo. Second row, photo on the left: D.S. A.D. McCurley.
